Electric gear motor can also be called a motor reducer, which is mainly composed of a motor, gears, and bearings. It is usually used in applications that require a large amount of force (torque) at low speeds, such as industrial robots and other equipment.
There are two types of speed reduction motors: AC gear motors and DC gear motors. AC gear motors operate on AC power and are typically used in high-power applications such as elevators and robots. Gear motor accessories, such as brackets, covers, and extension cables, are used to protect, install, and drive the gear motor.
The DC gear motor requires battery power for precise variable speed applications. The reduction motor aims to increase the available output torque without increasing the power consumption of the motor, while maintaining a compact size. The cost of torque multiplication is a proportional decrease in output shaft speed and a decrease in overall efficiency.
